We’re an upcoming pop-punk band from Johnson City, TN. Not sure if you do bands outside of Nashville, but we’re playing plenty of shows in that area and I used to live in Nashville.
Fairview plays music because we love playing and we love having fun. We create music that is fun for us, and hopefully fun for you.

Rocketown started a petition... →
meganbryson:
Last night they went around trying to get people to sign it. The petition stated that Rocketown is trying to ban all bands that cuss on stage, and they only want Christian bands to play there..
Why would I ever sign a petition for something that caused All Time Low to get…

Emerson Sky
An up and coming ambient rock band influenced by bands such as Circa Survive, Mutemath, Explosions in the Sky, Thrice, Mewithoutyou, and Radiohead. Trancy guitar work with a groovy rhythm background combined with epic soudscapes pose as the signature sound. They are working on their first EP due to release in late spring.

interview with Join The High Flyers' Michael Roe
random late night chats with Michael Roe from Join The High Flyers.
Not Hardcore:
How did Join The High Flyers start?
Michael Roe:
Join The High Flyers was a side project started by Cotter Childs and Jacob Crowell to kind of break out of their shell. They are in a metal band called Every Word A Prophecy and have been doing that for a really long time. Cotter moved to Nashville and he and I decided to make something out of it. We were lucky enough to get Chad Burroughs to play drums for us.
NH:
What was the first song you guys wrote?
MR:
The song "We Don't Deserve This", atleast the instruments of it was written before the band became Join The High Flyers, and it had a previous name, which I can't remember. So I guess it would be that one.
NH:
What's that song about?
MR:
It's about giving someone your heart and your love and being left empty handed. It's kind of a typical heartbreak song that is obviously in the point of view of someone in the anger part of the moving on process.
NH:
Do JTHF's songs follow a central theme or concept?
MR:
The ones we have written right now don't have a concept, but we are currently working on a concept album. The songs we have been performing are songs that I wrote a long time ago acoustically and Cotter, Jacob, and Chad helped me really bring the songs to life. Except for "Kasey", Cotter and I kind of did that one together.
NH:
So I'm assuming you're the main songwriter?
MR:
With the way our EP was written, or how I explain it to be written, it would seem that way. I would honestly put Cotter before myself as the main songwriter. But him and I collaborate so much that it's kind of a shared thing. And Chad gives the songs such good drum parts and has such a good input on everything we put together. As well as Jacob. He puts bass parts together that I wouldn't even think to play. We had another guitarist, Luke Granered, for a while and he was a big help as well. Join The High Flyers shows teamwork more than any musical group I've ever been a part of, and I'm so proud to even be able to say that
NH:
So tell me a little bit more about this concept album. What's the theme?
MR:
For the next few months, we will be writing for our first full length, "Chapters".
It's going to be a very personal album, about the lives of each individual member.
Each member will have their own chapter, and we will each have songs about significant times in our lives. I think it would be cool for people to understand why we are who we are, and to release that information through our music seems like it would just be so easy for people to understand it. We are four people with great stories that I feel like we should share with whoever is willing to listen.
NH:
How many songs are you guys writing for this?
MR:
We're thinking it's going to be an 8 song album. But we might try to make it a series, so don't be surprised if there is a part two.
NH:
haha sounds very ambitious. What all are you guys influenced by?
MR:
Haha
NH:
Both musically and other
MR:
Personally, I myself am influenced by bands such as Balance & Composure, As Cities Burn, Conditions, Alexisonfire, Yellowcard, Saosin, and some more. I can't speak for the other guys, but that's me. My Dad is a huge influence on me, and I try to use my past to drive my current music and the music I will write in the future. This may seem like a sappy cop out, but without God, none of this would be happening, so he is obviously my biggest influence, wether this is a Christian band or not. That is just what I believe.
NH:
Do you see you guys writing any praise or worship songs in the future or is the christian band label something you guys wanna stray away from? I don't mean by writing praise and worship albums, but like a song or two
MR:
One of my songs on "Chapters" will be about my relationship with God, but we aren't going to reach out to bring any kind of worship into this. Not every member in this band is a Christian, so it wouldn't be legitimate, and we want to be as truthful as possible to our fans.
NH:
What bands do you think people should go listen to?
MR:
I think people should listen to bands that have meaning and find a way to relate to them. Of course, everyone has their own opinion for what they think sounds good, but people don't realize that what they listen to stimulates their brain and makes them think about so much of whatever is going on in their lives.... On that note, a little bit of positivity in music is never a bad thing.
NH:
haha that was a deeper answer than i expected!
MR:
Haha, I couldn't help myself
NH:
No, no, it's cool. so the song Kasey is about suicide. What type of effect has suicide had in your life?
MR:
Kasey was a dear friend of mine. I didn't really think about suicide back then the way I do now. It kills my heart that someone can have such depression, anxiety, and impulse to hang their self in the woods behind their house. I never thought he would go through with it, but he actually did. A lot of people say what he did was selfish. I agree with them. But I still love Kasey, and I feel bad that it had to go down like that. Anxiety is a silent killer. I will definitely try harder to not take my friends for granted from now on because of it.
NH:
What is something you would say to someone considering suicide?
MR:
My lyrics in the song "Kasey" are pretty much everything I wish I could have said to him.
